Athletes who utilize and trust Chiropractic care for treatment of injuries and career longevity

According to Professional Football Chiropractic Society, "The average pro football chiropractor renders 30 to 50 treatments per week during the season. With the in-season (game-playing) duration lasting 16 weeks (not including quarterback camp, mini-camp, and pre- and post-season), 34 chiropractors conservatively give 16,320 to 27,200 adjustments to America’s superstars in just 120 days."   Just click the link and listen to this short video from Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice.  https://youtu.be/d4leu3m-oig

Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith, said "I go see the Chiropractor when I get bent out of shape on Sundays.  Playing in a football game is like being in 30-40 car accidents."  OUCH! I played football for thirteen years and can confirm that even though I did not play in the NFL.  Other professional athletes like Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (former body builder and present action star), Tiger Woods, Hall of Famer, Joe Montana, former NBA star Michael Jordan, Olympic Gold Medalist, Dan O'Brien, and professional tennis player Venus Williams rely on Chiropractic care to bounce back from injuries and to elevate their game.
This blog isn't to brag about how professional athletes use Chiropractic care.  Many professional athletes trust and utilize Chiropractic care for their million dollar bodies.   Chiropractic care is both safe and effective.  Your body might not be worth a million dollars over 7 - 10 years like a professional athlete, but it sure is worth millions of dollars over your lifetime.  You only get 1 spine and you need to take care of it because there are NO replacements.   If you are suffering from neck pain, headaches, mid back pain, low back pain, arm/leg pain,  other aches/pains, or have had a recent car crash, give me a call at Trouble Creek Chiropractic - (727) 807-5258.  I will discuss your particular situation and review any records you may have and determine if I think Chiropractic care may be able to help you.

What is the cause of your neck pain?

One of the most common complaints that patients come in with is neck pain and a smaller percentage of them also have radiating arm symptoms like pain, numbness, and tingling.  Most of us were trained to think that pain is a bad thing from when we are little kids.  If you have pain you take a certain pills and the pain goes away.  The reality is, pain is one way that your body tells you that something is NOT right. It is important to find out what is causing your neck pain before you start treating it.  A thorough examination (including a posture exam) and most likely x-rays are necessary to properly find the cause of a patient's neck pain.   Vertebrae in the spine which are out of place can pinch/irritate the nerve and produce a substantial amount of that neck pain and can even cause headaches.  Posture is an important tool and is like a window to the spine.  Where your posture is your spine and body follows.  Forward head posture has been a key posture to evaluate for when patients have neck pain and especially headaches.  Forward head posture (FHP) is so prevalent today that it has been labeled 'tech neck' by the medical community!  Young kids today are being diagnosed with 'tech neck' and suffering with neck pain and headaches more now than ever!
How do you know if you have forward head posture (FHP)?  It's easy to do on your own.  The ear canal should line up with the middle aspect of the shoulder from the side view.  This is just a quick screening for home.  I use posture software in the office to be more specific and quantify the forward head posture.   The head is approximately 12 lbs. and for every inch of forward head posture, an additional 10 lbs. of pressure is added to the neck and also down the spine.  The average person today that I see has at least 1.5 inches of forward head posture!  That's like carrying more than two heads all day and every day.   Eventually, neck pain, upper back pain, and headaches are the result.   How do you start to correct forward head posture    Special prescribed postural exercises, postural spinal adjustments, and postural stretches/traction
are paramount parts of correcting postural problems.   I also have to learn about a patient's work environment and even sleeping preferences  to make ergonomic recommendations to help preserve our postural correction achievements.  When you choose a Chiropractor, you need to make sure that they check and correct postural problems!  A very small percentage of Chiropractors focus on checking and correcting posture.   If you every have any questions, concerns, or just want more information, give the office a call at 727-807-5258 or message me on Facebook.  I return those messages as quickly as I can.   Have a great week!

Say goodbye to low back pain in 2017

Approximately eighty percent of people at some point during their life will suffer with low back pain.   In my 18+ years of experience in Chiropractic, this is by far one of the most frequent problems that patients come in to my office complain of.   Common symptoms include muscle spasm, swelling at times, significant pain, inability to perform simple tasks, limited movement, and a substantial impact on your ability to enjoy life.   The pain can be so bad that it may radiate down your thigh, leg, or to your foot.  Sometimes there is a known injury which the patient can remember and sometimes it is a simple movement like picking up their young child or lifting luggage out of the trunk of the car.

I call the simple task oriented injuries 'positional injuries.'  It can be as simple as a muscle strain which heals quickly or it can be a pinched/irritated nerve which heals more slowly.   Either way, you need to make sure that the injury heals correctly to give you the best chance of a pain free future and limiting the chance of recurrence down the road of life.  Chiropractic spinal adjustments have been shown to be safe and effective in relieving low back pain as well as other areas of spinal pain.  How you may ask?  Great question.  The spinal column is made up of twenty-four movable bones called vertebrae.  The spinal column protects a super important system called the nervous system.  The brain controls and coordinates all functions of the body utilizing the nervous system like a cable network to communicate with the rest of the body.  When the bones of the spinal column get out of alignment, pressure and irritation results on the nerve which comes out of the spinal column.  This effects the function of the nerve which can cause muscle spasms,
substantial pain, and swelling at times.  I detect and gently correct these spinal misalignments which takes the pressure/irritation off of the nerve and the pain goes away.   Patients always want to know how long this takes.   The average patient feels substantially better after about six treatments.  The severity of the injury plays a huge role on the patient response rate to Chiropractic care.   If you are suffering with low back pain, hip pain, and/or leg pain, start your New Year right by moving toward a pain free 2017.
